Ok, I reorganized the videos section.  Now, hopefully, videos will be updated more quickly since it's all SQLized and stuff.

Oh, did anybody see that meteor shower last night?  I was up, outside, lying on the ground looking at the sky from 5:00AM -> 5:45AM.  Yes, it was mad cold, but there were some bright things moving in the sky...

I am actually in the process of rewriting the videos page.  Stuff is now going into an SQL database, so it will be good this time...heh...

Yes, yes, this week was the worst week of my life!  After spending fifteen hours in the lab trying to get the smart car working, filling out dozens of e-mails and forms just to get Network Programming, and playing DDR tonight (heh, that was fun I guess), I'm finally going to try to update some of the page.

I hope you had a better week than I did, with the exception of DDR, heh.

Well, they finally opened up another section of NetProg for next semester, at 6-8PM.  Eck, but if it's the best they can do, it'll have to suffice.

For all you people who have any Cassiopeia E-1xx PDA's, you should put PocketLinux on them.  I'm in the process of putting it on my E-100, but I can't get the kernel built because the server that has the binutils and libraries for gcc cross-compiling for MIPS is down!  Maybe I should just break down and find a mirror.

Well, tacolinux is now 2.4.14 as of yesterday evening.  And...I'm already disappointed.  The memory handling reminds me of 2.4.9 and earlier; my swap usage is way too high (bout 45% utilized) and my mem usage is almost full.  Granted, the web server has ~174 children and I'm running VMWare 3.0 with 192mb allocated.  But still, this didn't happen with 2.4.10.  This is the first time in awhile that I've seen X redraw when I unlocked it.

On the other hand, the soundcard swap was kinda successful.  SB Live! 5.1 works nice on Linux, and the SB16 doesn't mess up on windows like the Live did before.  Oh well, all good.

As you all might see, the news section on the right column seems to have been deleted/cleared.  I've again updated the structure of this page, so I can now post news much quicker.  This means there should be a news item either daily or every two days.  You can always access all the old news here.  Thanks for bearing with me!

Blah, too much work to do, sorry, no music video updates at least until the weekend.  I will be looking closely at your requests though and try to pick the most popular one(s)!

On another note, check out this page.  Seems to be a script that allows your web server to browse the NetBIOS servers on your network and download through HTTP.  Why do I have the feeling that bad things are going to happen with this...  It's cool though :-)

It seems I will be taking down tacolinux (this web server) for a bit this saturday to perform a kernel upgrade (2.4.14) and swap sound cards with my Windows 2000 machine.  The SB16 will be going into windows while the SB Live! will be coming to this machine.  Why, you ask: Because SB Live! has better support under Linux than it does under Windows 2000!  And I only have 2.1 speakers anyway (Klipsch Promedia/2.1), so the SB Live! does me no good anymore.

Don't worry, I'll post a little blurb of my experience with 2.4.14 about a day after I upgrade.  However, I can tell you that 2.4.13 (running it on tacolap) is rock solid except in the memory usage.  Physical memory usage lately on that machine is very high, but none of it is really swapped.  Tacolinux has 512 megabytes, so we'll see if the memory management is tweaked to perfection.  (/me dreams...)  If not, back to 2.4.10...
