It seems I will be taking down tacolinux (this web server) for a bit this saturday to perform a kernel upgrade (2.4.14) and swap sound cards with my Windows 2000 machine.  The SB16 will be going into windows while the SB Live! will be coming to this machine.  Why, you ask: Because SB Live! has better support under Linux than it does under Windows 2000!  And I only have 2.1 speakers anyway (Klipsch Promedia/2.1), so the SB Live! does me no good anymore.

Don't worry, I'll post a little blurb of my experience with 2.4.14 about a day after I upgrade.  However, I can tell you that 2.4.13 (running it on tacolap) is rock solid except in the memory usage.  Physical memory usage lately on that machine is very high, but none of it is really swapped.  Tacolinux has 512 megabytes, so we'll see if the memory management is tweaked to perfection.  (/me dreams...)  If not, back to 2.4.10...
