Hmm, warm day today.  Sensors show the temperature steadily rising in the dorm room ...

Looks like my high school's robotics team keeps winning.  The results from this year's US First national competition show the Raider Robotix being one of the three finalists.  Looks like the trend members of my class set back in 2000 hasn't slowed down one bit :)

Not much news lately.  The weather is getting nicer here, and as usual I'm stuck inside doing homework.  Such is life.

So, I downed most of my network here for about an hour to install a new UPS.  My old CyberPower thing died at the beginning of the year, and the recent power fluctuations encouraged me to drop some cash on a new one.

Anyway, it's an APC BX1000: 600Watts and 1000VA.  Currently it's loaded with taco,tacolinux,atlantis,starfire, and my LCD panel.  The software says I'm using 384Watts, and I'll get 10 minutes of life.  Not bad for 4 computers, display, and two ethernet switches.  Let's hope it lasts longer than that CyberCrap ...

It's icy outside, so classes were cancelled.  I took some lame photos on my way to the mailroom, which happened to be closed.

It's been a somewhat eventful day I suppose...  And to top it off packet-loss is around what it used to be during the AppliedTheory days.  You can see a graphical illustration here or point MTR at starfire.prolixium.com.  (I won't mind if you send a couple ICMP packets to that box)

Now, I should probably head to bed.

Here's an update on the RIAA suings of innocent college students (biased? nah!).  According to Quicken (yeah), each song traded through the system will cost the "network operators" $150,000.  And, according to this article from Reuters, the people from RPI who were sued are Jesse Jordan and Aaron Sherman.

I don't even want to know what the RIAA is going to do next...

I've added a temperature graph of tacolinux to MRTG.  It displays processor and system temperature, so now everyone can tell when I have the window open in the dorm ...
