I attended the local (was 509'ing earlier) Greek Festival on Saturday with some friends.  It was a tad too crowded, but the food was great!

Hardware, bug, or both?  I wish it would dump core, one of these days, so I can submit a backtrace.

If you have some time, I suggest reading Isaac Asimov's The Last Question.  Coincidentally, I was just reading Black Holes, Wormholes & Time Machines this week.

Why is it higher on the Friday before a three-day weekend than the day before (Thursday)?

I'm talking about traffic on roads and interstates, not on SONET interfaces.

Ever wonder what browsing modern web sites would be like from Windows NT 4.0 and Internet Explorer 2.0?  Look no further!  I had some time to kill, and gave it a shot.

rpi.edu and kernel.org look decent, I suppose.

Note that IE 2.0 ignored the width of 93 on their main logo image, which is actually 1445x892.  I didn't think anyone relied on the browser to resize oversized images anymore.  Leave it to SCO to do so.

If you find yourself yearning for that Firefox/Mozilla behavior with Epiphany, you need to tweak a key in the GConf database:

gconftool-2 -t bool -s /apps/epiphany/general/middle_click_open_url true

Ashame that it's not available via about:config.

The last time I saw a huge one was in Jamaica, several years ago.  This one was seen crawling up my parents' driveway this afternoon, and was around 9 cm.  I think it's a Luna moth caterpillar, but I'm not sure.

Caterpillar on driveway

Crawling

Caterpillar on my hand

Caterpillar on mulch

I know the pictures aren't the greatest, but can someone confirm the species?

I started reading Dan Brown's Deception Point on a plane flight last night.  It's quite good, so far, and just as fast-paced as The Da Vinci Code, yet still takes the time for adequate character development.

At the bookstore the other day, I was about to pick up Angles & Demons, but decided I didn't feel like reading something that was going to be shrunk into a vacuous film in a few years.  (I thought The Da Vinci Code film was fairly disappointing when compared to the book, meh)
