Ah, the winter (semester) break has almost ended, back to school on the 11th for me.

On a side note, I find it interesting that RPI has recently unfirewalled outbound ICMP echo-request packets solely for resnet (the rest of the network seems to be unchanged).  I believe this has to do with the installation of a new Cisco PIX 500 series firewall on the 2nd of the month.  Strangely, packet loss has dropped to less than 1% on resnet, while still remaining at approximately 6.5% for the rest of campus.  I doubt this was intentional ... but you won't hear me complaining.

I've posted my schedule for the upcoming semester.  Hey, this is my last semester, wow.  I guess time does fly when you're having fun.

Effective January 1, 2004, RPI will be increasing their clench on the network by blocking all incoming UDP packets to resnet and corenet.  Rumor has it the firewall can't handle all the game server traffic.  Hahaha....

Ah, the semester is finally winding down.  Presentations are done, projects have been turned in, and only one final to go!  With any luck, I should be home on Tuesday.  Website will still be up.  Since I'm running some research projects, the RA has agreed to allow my computers to stay active over the break.

In other news, the RPI-ACM finally got a DNS delegation from the Computer Science Department.  Our mirrors site has never looked better.
