> No spam

It's been about a week after I tweaked my mail configuration to further block spam and annoying messages.  It seems successful, since my spam volume from 23:00 to 08:00 has decreased from 25+ messages to about 2 or 3, on a bad day.  The key to this spam decrease was the simple installation of libnet-dns-perl and Pyzor, along with SpamAssassin.  I've been using SA for awhile now, but since it was incapable of doing RBL lookups, it couldn't check to see if the source address was reported as an open-relay, open-proxy, or some other misconfigured server.  Pyzor is also useful, since it checks if the digest of a message matches a known piece of spam in its online database.  I've been trying to support the community by running spamassassin -r to report messages as spam.

I'm also realizing that being in the south has taken a toll on me, I think I'm starting to like some country music, now.  I just picked up this CD from Best Buy, today.  It's not bad ... ack.

Well, it looks like they finally cancelled it.  Time for me to start watching Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica.

It snowed in Charlotte this morning, and there's still untouched snow in the middle of intersections.  The people down here really don't know how to deal with wintry weather conditions.  I think I'll go for a drive ... it should be fun.

It snowed big time.  I took some photos.

I just had to compete:

I am 88% loser. What about you? Click here to find out! I am nerdier than 98% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out! What is your weird quotient? Click to find out!

I think I just scared myself.

This past week has been somewhat interesting.  It looks like I'll be down in Charlotte, NC for longer than I had expected, but I figured from the start that this would be the case.  My company has been undergoing some changes lately, to say the least.  I suppose I don't mind it, as long as the weather stays warm down here.  It was in the 70's most of last week, which was great.  Now the weather is feeling a little more seasonal ... not fun.

In my boredom the other day, I installed PearPC for the 2nd time, and got Mac OS X running in Linux.  It looks pretty neat, but PearPC eats memory like there's no tomorrow.  It ended up using so much memory that my VMware session died due to lack of memory.  It's fun to play around with, though.

I picked up a Bluetooth keyboard the other day.  Typing on the ThinkPad exclusively has gotten annoying, and I figured I would get an external keyboard.

I still hate Apple

Let's not have any comments about the manufacturer of the keyboard.  I think I dug a hole for myself on this one.

I went skiing this weekend with a bunch of friends from home.  It was pretty fun, even though it rained for half of the day.  I didn't take many pictures, since I was afraid I'd fall and destroy the camera.  Posting of the pictures will commence after I unpack, and do stuff.
