Finally, upgraded the RAM in my laptop!
MemTotal: 1555308 kB
That should do it, for now.
I finally got my closing date for my new condo the other day: May 17th. Not too far from now, compared to what was predicted a week ago. Now I need to start looking for a refrigerator, bedroom sets, sofa, chairs, TV, stereo system, kitchen table, stools, towels, desk. Arg, maybe I won't think about that just yet. I need to order some cable service, though. Well, maybe I won't have to pay for that :)
Oh, yeah, I should be sleeping. I blame dropped ICMP echo-request packets and faulty hardware for my lack of sleep.
The analog component of my Fossil watch stopped, today. I think I'm going to need to stop by Radio Shack after work.
I added a tiny new photo gallery today. The last photo shows a nifty-looking rainbow that manifested itself after the rain, today.
Besides the fact that is resizes your browser, this site is chock full of all sorts of neat GIS and property data. Some of it is a little scary, but it all comes from publically available data.
Also, CONFIG_PROTECT="-*" emerge -C $package is the Gentoo equivalent of Debian's dpkg -P $package command. I just figured I would share that.
I had Quiznos for dinner. How about them apples?
I'm going to try and keep this thing updated almost every day, even if I have nothing spectacular to say. Be prepared for lame posts.
I forgot to post some of the maps I generated from the trip I took down to Charlotte, two weeks ago. Here is a small collection of the maps I managed to create with Kismet's gpsmap utility.
I might note that something is funky with hostap, or possibly Gentoo's ebuild. Kismet failed to put my 200mW Prism2 card in monitor mode, and I wasn't able to do it via iwconfig, either. Unfortunately, it took me about 100 miles to figure this out, after seeing almost no networks pop up, in densely populated areas. It's too bad, because I had my external antenna setup fairly nicely for the trip. I switched back to the internal Atheros card, which channel hops through 2.4 and 5GHz frequencies. Unfortunately, I couldn't use my external antenna. I'm going to have to fix hostap, or compile it by hand like I have in the past. Oh well.
So, I watched this week's Enterprise today. Seriously ... they wonder why the show was cancelled?
I can just see Rick at his desk, pondering a theme for the next episode. When in doubt, bring back the mirror universe/alternate reality theme! Lame. Sometimes, I think the actors enjoy acting "bad" compared to their usual (boring - since this is Enterprise) selves.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a die-hard Star Trek fan. I just think everything went downhill since TNG.
