Trip to Seaworld was fun.  Got to watch some Dolphins do neat tricks:

Shamu, or family

Yeah, Universal Studios was, too!  No Cyberdyne apparel this time, though...

I just setup a Jabber server for prolixium.com this evening.  Server software is the jabberd project, version 2.0.10.  SSL seems to work for S2S (server to server) communication, and public registration is enabled for now.

Gaim works well as a client, but Webmessenger, the client I've been using on my Blackberry does not work.  I need to debug this further, right now I'm not even seeing connections from the handheld.  Also, Jabber.org doesn't feel like paying attention to the SRV records that were setup, so I had to punch a hole in my firewall for the IP prolixium.com's A record references.

We'll see how this works, I guess.  Oh, yeah, contrary to popular belief, I am not spending my entire vacation glued to the PC.  Universal Studios and Sea World tomorrow, whee.  And, my E815 is still in the shop so no EV-DO for me!

Now that I finally converted my IPv6 network over to SixXS in Chicago (25ms latency), they bring up a node in Newark, NJ, that would give me the following:

traceroute to usewr01.sixxs.net (66.55.128.25), 64 hops max, 60 byte packets
 1 69.9.189.181 (69.9.189.181) 0.517 ms
 2 0.ge0-3.cr1.ewr1.us.voxel.net (69.9.188.33) 1.158 ms
 3 810.ge-0-3-0.cr1.lga1.us.voxel.net (69.9.167.177) 1.773 ms
 4 unknown.lga1.us.voxel.net (69.9.172.116) 2.052 ms
 5 198.32.229.10 (198.32.229.10) 2.129 ms
 6 gi3-6.cr1.nyc1.choopa.net (209.123.96.230) 2.160 ms
 7 p8.cr2.jrcy1.choopa.net (64.237.32.29) 2.062 ms
 8 ge-5-2.cr2.jrcy1.choopa.net (64.237.32.158) 2.333 ms
 9 usewr01.sixxs.net (66.55.128.25) 2.169 ms

If I had just waited one more week!  Oh well, I have to wait now, I'm out of credits.

Anyway.. I'm on vacation, and shouldn't be thinking about such things.

RPI redid the Folsom Library.  Looks pretty interesting.  I guess they don't have any AIX boxen around anymore :(

Now, let's focus some of that funding on the engineering department!  Oh wait, that might actually make sense.

Saw the Christmas Spectacular: The Rockettes this evening.  Great show.  That dancing is sure synchorinzed..

On another note, I was invited to the Windows Vista beta program recently.  I threw build 5231 on taco, and can now watch explorer crash repeatedly.  IE7 now has transparent PNG support and tabs, but no CSS 2.0 support, or the implementation is just broken.  The OS also instantly consumes 682MiB of memory upon bootup, with no apps running, and feels slower than a dead slug moving uphill.

Oh well, sometimes I wonder why I spend my time doing such things.
