I haven't posted here in a bit, let's see if I can coherently list some random thoughts.
Tonight it took me four stops before I found a gas station that wasn't bone dry. Seriously, I'd consider walking, biking, or carpooling to work, but it's too far and everyone's schedules seem to be different. I'm going to try not leaving campus for lunch for the next two weeks, and eating at the cafeteria instead. Funny thing, I actually eat healthier there than I do off-campus. Some of my coworkers have an aversion to it though, so I might be giving up friendly company. Oh well.
I saw a BMW with a vanity plate reading MSFTCHIC, today. I suppose this could be interpreted in two ways. If it's the traditional meaning of chic, I'm confused, since stylish, elegant, and smart really aren't adjectives I'd typically use to describe Microsoft, unless the driver somehow embodies all the chic that exists in the company. If this was meant as a misspelling of chick, then it's too bad I didn't get a good view of the driver (although I could tell she was female). I've always wanted to know what a "Microsoft chick" looks like. Try a Google Images search for it, then try it with SafeSearch disabled, if you're really adventurous (warning!). Optionally, do a similar search but substitute "Microsoft" with "Linux" and see what you get…
I found a bug report describing the same exact issue I'm having with the ath5k driver. I'm using the AR5212 chipset. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, since I don't see the old madwifi drivers sticking around for much longer. I'd help, but I don't have much of a clue about writing (much less debugging) Linux device drivers.
Today (Sept. 22nd, 2008) was the the Autumnal Equinox (ie, first day of fall). The outdoor pool in my development is still open, yet if last week's swim was any indication, the water is really too cold at this point. I suspect it will be covered up this weekend. And the Siskey Y is as crowded as ever - bleh.
Also, this past week I discovered XM channel 82 (The System). Specifically, the Solaris International radio show broadcast on Sunday morning featured a neverending supply of bright and uplifting trance. I could have listened to it all day - really great stuff. Other than the radio shows, The System routinely plays the type of trance I'll listen to on an almost everyday basis. It's almost perfect, but not as close as Markus Schulz's perfect.
Also, speaking of trance. I've been trying to get ahold of Paul van Dyk - In Between (Japan Special Edition). Specifically, the original (unmixed) version of La Dolce Vita. I found it on YouTube (ugh) a week or so back, but it's since been pulled. What's the deal?
I think that's all for now!
