As part of our integration with Internap, we are excited to announce that we will be upgrading our data center footprint in the 111 8th Avenue building to include Internap’s 75,000 square foot facility located on the 10th floor of the same building. This is one of New York’s premier data center facilities and offers the latest in availability, security and power/cooling systems. As part of this turn up, we will be migrating the LGA7 data center footprint where you currently have hosting services with Voxel to the new “LGA9” Internap data center, 2 floors away. This move will occur between the middle and end of May and we will be contacting you with the migration window for your machine(s). We understand that your servers with us are mission critical and that any sort of downtime is a challenge, but we feel that making this move will increase both the reliability and availability of your Voxel servers. Additionally, we know that you may have many questions about the move. We’ve listed some common ones below, but you’re always encouraged to call our operations team or your account manager to discuss any particular concerns you may have. Common Questions 1. Will I get to choose my migration date? Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate custom move dates. We will, however, work to minimize the maintenance window and keep any downtime to a minimum for each move. 2. I have servers in LGA6 or LGA8, will I still be able to “talk” to those servers over my private address space? Yes! LGA6/8 are remaining in place and will be fully “on-net” to the LGA9 data center via our own in-building dark fiber network. 3. Will my IP’s or VLAN details change? No -- your IP numbering, VLAN assignment and other router-based configurations will not change. 4. Should I be concerned about data loss during the move? Moving physical hardware always opens the possibility of hardware failure. We *strongly* recommend that you have current backups in place before the move. We’ll be offering a promotion on our R1Soft CDP backups for anybody currently in need of backup services from Voxel. Please contact sales@voxel.net for more details. 5. How long will the move take? We’re still wrapping up the final migration plans and times, however, we expect the move to take between 3 and 6 hours. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be advising you of your scheduled move date. In the meantime, we encourage you to ensure that you have up-to-date backups of your systems with us and to contact your sales rep or the Voxel operations team with any other questions that may arise.
